Spoilers for "The Reichenbach Fall."  This one really got to me ...

Others have written elegant essays and marvelously emotional rants about Series 2 of Sherlock.  Still others have come up with many useful thoughts about what we saw happen in "The Reichenbach Fall" and what it all means.

Me, I'm at the idle thoughts and questions stage.

* Which 7 minutes will the American broadcasters cut out of each episode, especially the last one?

* For heaven's sake, WHO is theimprobableone?  S/he is still commenting on John's blog, but there's no clue as to this person's identity or motivations.

* Am I the only person who thinks that gravestone is tacky?

* WTF is with the LJ cut not working?

So lots of people have noticed the (spoiler-heavy) updates to John Watson's blog, but how many have noticed ...

... that apparently Molly Hooper now has a tumblr?  I don't know 100% that it's "official," but it certainly is written in her tone.  And if it is official?  She and DI Lestrade are definitely noticing each other.

To quote (I think) veronamay, in her 2010 Sherlock fandom manifesto, I'm just going to be quietly flailing into a lace hankie over here.

I just put up a bunch of recs over at sherlock_search, because a new reader asked for recs and I got kind of carried away.


Then I tried to re-post them here, at my own journal, so that I could finally publish my FABULOUS POST FULL OF RECS.  Then LiveJournal fucked with the formatting so severely that it was absolutely hopeless, and I had to pull it down.  Why, LJ, why?  Why post a link to ivyblossom's journal when I was in fact linking to something else entirely?  Or to mardia's when I was linking to mad_maudlin's "Apotheosis"?  Scream. There goes an hour I'm never getting back ...


So I can only, wearily, direct you to my Fabulous Post Full of Recs over there and note that my list is limited because 1) The full comments already included recs I would have made, and 2) I really, really have to go work now, 'cause it may be an all-nighter.

Um, y'all?  I give up on having my first Real, Serious Post here be a FABULOUS POST FULL OF RECS.  Although I really, really will do that, as soon as I dig out from under the frightening pile of work on my desk, because there's a hell of a lot of good writing going on in this fandom.

However, the only thing I can say tonight is that wordstrings has put up a new section of "The Paradox Series"  in three parts, starting here.  Go read it, for heaven's sake!

I've lurked around on LJ for years, happily reading fanfic, and commenting occasionally, usually as the ubiquitous "Anon."  But I don't think that's fair of me.  At all.  If I enjoy it - and I'm way picky, but there's a lot of good work out there - I should tell you writers about it.  Not to mention you icon makers, you artists, you video editors ... It's amazing to me that there are so many people who are willing to create good stuff for no reason except to delight the community of affectionate strangers that makes up any fandom.  "Generous" doesn't begin to cover it.

The main reasons for all the lurkiness aren't going to go away - marriage (happy), teenage offspring (ask me, it changes from day to day), work (intermittently fulfilling), responsibilities ... The other big reason is shyness, but what does that matter?  On the Internet, no one knows you're a dog.  Or whether you've combed your hair.

Fandoms?  Two, mainly, one old by Internet standards, and one shiny new.  Old = Buffy.  New = Sherlock (BBC).  There's amazing work in both, and I'm planning to do rec posts to share what I think is the best.

Things that delight me in general?  Ten thousand.  I'll try to share some of that too.  Books especially.

So yeah, I can't come up with some fab closing to this.  Um, er ... Thanks for all you do.  All y'all.
